Safety Surfacing

Although it is not a stipulated requirement within the European Standard – EN12572, it is generally agreed within the climbing wall industry that a safety surface should be provided below a climbing wall.

Rockworks can supply new and existing walls with an appropriate safety surface including roped walls, bouldering walls and outdoor structures.

Safety surface requirements are bespoke to every facility. If you would like a quotation please contact us.

Bouldering Matting

Designed specifically for bouldering walls where individuals are climbing without ropes. The 300mm depth foam safety mats are designed and installed in accordance with the European Standard EN 12572. The matting incorporates a dense polyurethane foam inner with a flame retardant, PVC outer cover.

A carpet top finish is also available in a choice of colours.

Rubber Crumb Tiles

Ideal for roped climbing walls, providing a safety surface with a critical fall height of 2.8m.

The tiles are supplied in black as standard and are 75mm in thickness. Exposed edges can be ramped to reduce any trip hazard.

Suspended Matting

This system also provides a protective barrier when the climbing wall is not in use and is ideal for walls located in a multi use sports hall.

Constructed using a lightweight foam core and durable PVC cover the mats are simple to raise and lower.
